The Good Karma
Project

Auckland, New Zealand

Backing good builds. Funding good friends.

We rebuild gifted items and give them away to raise money for charity. It started with motorbikes, and who knows what's next. This year's is a custom-painted Suzuki GSX-250R, and every ticket dollar goes to Te Kiwi Māia.

How it works

Paying it forward creates a chain reaction.

It's all about momentum

One good turn starts the next. Giving something tells a story, and stories get people moving.

Stronger together

Riders, builders and local businesses each add a link. Nobody has to carry the whole thing.

It all goes around

Good goes around. Brighten someone's day. You are the missing link.

About

A bloke, a garage and a bike to give away.

I'm Nik, and for some reason I started giving away motorcycles. I'm still working out exactly why, but I know where it started: the Every Sunday Motorcycle Collective.

Every Sunday, riders on every kind of bike turn up for a coffee and a yarn. It doesn't matter what you ride. You learn something about a bike you didn't know before, and you might find someone to go riding with you'd never have thought of. That's pretty special. I loved what they'd built so much that I wanted to give something back, and I thought: they're riders, so let's get a bike and give it to someone.

In 2025 I bought a bike and gave it away to raise money for Te Kiwi Māia. Giving that first one away got people thinking, and this year a generous family turned up at my place with their GSX-250R and asked me to do it again. So here we are: getting back on the bike, so to speak.

The Good Karma Project is how we do it. Businesses donate parts and their skills, anyone who likes the idea can get involved, and I document the build so everyone can follow along. When the bike's done, someone wins it, and every cent goes to that year's charity. In 2026 that's Te Kiwi Māia, who look after the people who run towards danger so the rest of us don't have to.

That's how it keeps rolling. Got an old bike sitting in the garage? It could be the next one we rebuild and give away, and the next story we get to tell.

I genuinely believe we're built to help each other, and we feel better when we do. Come along for the ride.

Te Kiwi Māia

This year's charity

Supporting the people that run towards danger so the rest of us don't have to.

Each build backs a different charity. For 2025 and 2026 it's been Te Kiwi Māia, the Courageous Kiwi, who support first responders. They protect us, and this build is how we back them.
